This was the hotel I mentioned in a recent post (50,000 Point Radisson Promo Ends Tonight!) that I booked last minute on December 29th solely for points. I had completely forgotten about the Radisson Blu promotion that was ending on December 30th. It was a last minute hotel stay to say that least, but the price was well worth the 50,000 Club Calrson points earned.

For those of you who haven’t been to Dallas before it is quite the mixed bag depending on the location you are visiting. This Radisson was actually in Garland rather than Dallas and about 20 minutes from downtown. When I arrived I thought, “Wow what have I gotten myself in to” as we drove through a poorly lit parking lot. My first impression of the place made me a bit nervous, but when we pulled up to the entrance I was relieved and my nervous twitch resided.

The hotel was freshly renovated with marble and wood accents. The lobby boasted multiple large leather sofas and a top shelf bar. It is safe to think that this was the exact opposite of what I was expecting when creeping through the parking lot. When we checked in to our room the manager told us that we weren’t going to be able to get the room that we had booked online. I figured that this was no big deal because it was only one night and we had no choice since time was an issue to lock in on the promotion. She then handed me the key and said that we had been upgraded to a suite with a kitchen. I was in shock.

The room itself was very roomy and the bed was a brand new sleep number. For the price it would be hard to find more bang for your buck. We didn’t use the living room area, but it was a nice set up with a flat screen TV. The overall stay was excellent and the points are the cherry on top. The only downside is the distance from downtown. If you are wanting to partake in the sights and sounds of downtown I would not suggest this Radisson, but if Radisson does another promotion I know where I will be staying.
